This is the blog of one Christian living in Ames, Iowa, USA. My intention is to post Bible lessons here. Most of the earlier posts cover approximately passages laid out in International Sunday School Lesson (ISSL) schedules. Many lessons posted Winter 2013 through Summer 2014 refer to passages from the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Adult Sunday School Quarterly.
Little to nothing I say about the passages will be original with me. Instead, it will come from some hours spent with (the Holy Scriptures and) my old (mostly) dead believing friends (conservative protestant commentators) like Kidner, Bruce, Morris, Stott, Ryle, Calvin, Motyer, Baldwin, Boice, Guthrie, Wright, Barnes, Clarke, Henry, Cole, and Barnhouse, to name a few. I am not a Bible scholar or linguist, but many of these were/are, and I am grateful for their guidance and encouragement. I will be glad if something here is useful to others, but my first purpose in posting is to enforce on myself the discipline of regular careful study of the Scriptures.
I’ll use the ESV Bible text. The official acknowledgement of the use of Crossway’s material is:
